 The esur of accepting gossip as truth in the context of

 RK6/ .  It  is  forbidden  to  believe  gossip.    Even  if  the  speaker    .ונממ  רמשהל  ךיאה  עדיל  ידכ  הלחתכל  שורדל
 conveyed it publicly in front of several men (1), nevertheless, one    ,םירכינה  םירבד  וילע  האר  אל  וליפאד  רשפאו
 may not form a conclusive opinion that the gossip he heard was    וא  ופוגב  וקיזהל  הצור  ינולפש  רחאמ  עמש  קר
 true.  However it is permissible to suspect its possible veracity and
 to investigate the matter (to determine) if it will have a future impact
 on his life (2).  	  namely	that	his	master	Mephiboshet	was	unhappy	that	David	HaMelech
                     emerged from the civil war with Avshalom as undisputed king of Israel.
                     The	Chafetz	Chayim	Z”L	differentiates	between	Lashon	Hara	supported	by	                                                                                   7
                     weak	םירכנה םירבד	and	strong	םירכנה םירבד		For	purposes	of	this	translation
 Be’er Mayim Chayim  םירכנה  םירבד	 has	 been	 rendered	 as	 “circumstantial	 evidence,”	 although
                     these	 “facts”	 do	 not	 constitute	 “evidence,”	 but	 rather	 they	 are	 simply
 (RK6/1/1)-(1).. in front of several men: Please see above in the laws   varying	degrees	of	indication	that	the	reported	Lashon	Hara	is	true.
