Will the Real Christians Stand Up
“Gear up and run until I tell you to stop,” he said to Ste-
ven. “Anybody else?”
“I am, sir,” a soldier replied.
“I am, sir,” another soldier replied.
“Me, too, sir,” said one squad member after another.
“Everybody get up and run until I tell you to stop,” Captain
Smith barked.
“I’m not, sir,” the soldier-in-training said. The soldier re-
called how the other soldiers criticized him when he voiced
his strong opinion about prayer not being allowed in school.
It gave him great pleasure to speak out in hopes that it would
give him favor with the Captain. The Captain came face-to-
face with the soldier. “What’s your name, soldier?”
“Andrew, sir.” “Andrew, what?” “Andrew Brown, sir.”
“Smart man. You can sleep in until 8 a.m. soldier.”
The Captain walked out to the training field to monitor
the soldiers who had assembled for the run.
“Are all of you born-again believers?” Samaria asked.
I think so. I used to be, I want to be, were the comments
that the soldiers in training gave. The squad laughed.
“Thank you so much, but you didn’t have to stick your
neck out for me.
“We’re a team, remember,” one of the soldiers said. The
team ran for an hour. “At ease, soldiers,” the Captain said.
“Now, is there anyone who decided to change their minds
about being a Christian?” No one gave a reply. “You have
three minutes to get water, then get back out there and run
until I tell you to stop.”
The team refreshed themselves with water and started
to run again.
“Guys, I got this, please it’s okay,” Samaria said.
“Are you sure?” one of the comrades asked.
