Will the Real Christians Stand Up Will the Real Christians Stand Up
The crowd cheered and applauded. Katey began to
speak. “I would like to briefly talk to you about the malefac-
tor. For those not aware, these malefactors were the two men
hanging on the cross next to Jesus. One man died a fool with
a heart filled with pride, and the other man died like a wise
man, with a heart filled with humility. My scripture reading for
tonight is coming out of Luke 24, verses 39 to 43. and it reads:
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at
him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear
God,” he said, “since you are under the same sen-
tence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting
what our deeds deserve. But this man has done noth-
ing wrong.”
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come
into your kingdom.”
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will
be with me in paradise.”
“Jesus didn’t make any reply to the foolish man with
a heart filled with pride. Is there anyone here tonight with a
heart filled with pride? Is there anyone here that already has
life mapped out without Jesus in the center of that map? Is
there anyone here that feels as if they’re okay without Christ in
their life? If you do, I’m here to tell you tonight that you’re not
okay, and that God will not respond to vain words.

“And he said unto Jesus Lord, remember me when
thou come into thy kingdom.
“The humble man humbled himself, and believed that
Jesus Christ was, and is the son of the living God. Now we see
Jesus’ response to the humble man in verse 43.
And Jesus said unto him, verily I say unto thee, today
