Barely getting a word in, Adriana interjected, “I’ve been
thinking about joining the female basketball team. I spoke to
the coach, and she told me tryouts will be coming up soon.
“That would be wonderful. Israel said.
The couple admiringly stared at each other. They were
quite soundless for a brief moment, merely feeling each oth-
er’s presence.
“You look so beautiful tonight,”Adriana.
Thanks. You look handsome yourself, Adriana replied. Is-
rael moved his head closer to Adriana, positioning himself to
ask the big question. Just then, the waiter reappeared.
“Seafood scampi for you ma’am and seafood alfredo
for you, sir. Would you like for me to remove those appetizer
plates and refill your glasses with pink lemonade?”
“Yes, thanks,” Israel said.
“Red Lobster has the best seafood scampi to me,” Adri-
ana said.
“It’s a toss between Red Lobster and Oliver Garden, who
also has a pretty tasty seafood alfredo, said Israel.
Adriana and Israel enjoyed a delicious entree while gaz-
ing on and off into each other’s eyes. Love took over the night
between them, and romance directed their path. After enjoy-
ing the delicious entrees, Israel began pouring his heart out to
Adriana.
He gathered his courage, and as he held both her hands,
he started by saying, “Adriana, we’ve been dating since 8th
grade. Honestly, I can’t remember one dull, unhappy mo-
ment with you. Even though I haven’t told you, being separat-
ed from you has not been the easiest thing for me. During this
brief time of separation, I’ve been made to see how much I
love you and how lonely it would be without you by my side.
Your mother and father treat me like a son, and my mother
and father treat you better than me.”
