TOWNSHIP OF MADOC








     COMMUNITY HUB EXPANSION!
     September 7, 2024 was the grand opening of the training room for the fire
     fighters,  the  community  hub  and  the  addition  of  accessible  playground
     equipment.  It  was  a  great  day  and  we  thank  everyone  that  came  out  in
     support of their municipality.

                                    September  was  Suicide  Awareness  and
                                    Prevention  Month.  All  members  of  Madoc
                                    Township  Council  purchased  t-shirts  to
                                    help  raise  some  funds  to  be  donated  to
                                    The  Canadian  Mental  Health  Association.
                                    They  came  together  at  the  September  4,
                                    2024  council  meeting  showing  their
                                    support.




     VOLUNTEER DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF - JOB POSTING
     In  Conjunction  with,  and  in  the  absence  of  the  Fire  Chief,  the  Deputy  Fire  Chief
     manages  and  coordinates  the  overall  operation  of  the  Fire  Department  for  the
     Township of Madoc.
     With a strong focus on protection of people, property and the environment the Deputy Chief will be responsible for the Township’s Fire
     Prevention Program. The Deputy Chief will also assist in the administration of applicable local, provincial and federal fire regulations.
     Administration duties comprise assisting the Volunteer Fire Chief with planning, directing and controlling all fire department activities
     including  recruitment  of  personnel,  purchase  of  equipment,  control  of  expenditures,  preparation  of  budget  estimates  and  the
     assignment of personnel and equipment.
     Qualifications
     · Minimum High School Graduation; post secondary education through the Ontario Fire College of Community College          Diploma in
     Fire Fighting or equivalent studies
     · Minimum five years as a Fire Fighter and at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity
     · Must possess a valid DZ licence
     · Must possess current First Aid and CPR certification
     · Excellent knowledge of current fire fighting and fire prevention tactics and technology
     · Excellent knowledge of Provincial Health and Safety legislation
     · Excellent knowledge of Municipal By-Laws and Building Code
     · Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
     · Excellent analytical and investigative skills
     · Excellent judgement and problem solving skills with the ability to respond quickly  and decisively in emergency situations.
     · Excellent physical/medical condition and posess a high level of stamina
     · Excellent ability to work under pressure and effectively multi-task
     · Good computer literacy and proficient in Word, Excell and Power Point
     · Good understanding of financial/budget principles
     · Good understanding of Human Resource principles and volunteer management
     · Strong coaching and mentor skills
     · Collaborative team player
     · Ability to interact with all levels both inside and outside the organization with diplomacy, tact and courtesy
     · Positive, enthusiastic demeanor
