HYDRANT FLUSHING
Please be advised that the Municipality of Centre Hastings will be flushing hydrants in Madoc Village. The commencement
of hydrant flushing is scheduled for Monday, October 7th, 2024. Flushing is an essential maintenance function necessary
to maintain water quality, improve the carrying capacity of pipes, and ensure the proper operation of distribution system
components, such as hydrants and valves. When flushing is occurring in your area, you may experience discoloured water
or a small drop in water pressure. Should your water appear reddish, yellow or brown, do not be alarmed. Please check for
water discolouration by running your cold water to ensure water is clear prior to using appliances such as washing
machines or dishwashers. It is recommended you do not use the water or do laundry for two hours after noticing
discoloration. After you have waited, run your cold water tap (without the aerator screen) for five to ten minutes. This
should remove any sediment from inside your service. Reducing your water usage during flushing will help to minimize the
amount of sediment and discolouration introduced into your system. Your cooperation is appreciated while we perform
this maintenance on our water system. https://centrehastings.com/news-and-notices/hydrant-flushing-3/
