                                          A JIB SHA CKLE

                   MATERIALS 1m of 10mm 3 strand rope
A few metres of whipping twine

KNOTS USED Lanyard knot: diagram a
                                Double crown: see page 22
                                Flat seizing: see page 27

                   METHOD
Middle the rope and put on a of the knot. Now make another
flat seizing about 220mm from flat seizing to make a loop just
the bight. Unlay the ends and big enough to allow the knot to
make a wall knot with the 6 be ‘buttoned’ through. You can
strands making the extra tuck as now use this instead of that
shown in the illustration. wicked metal shackle.
                  Carefully work fairly tight, but
not too tight, as the ends now
have to be crowned and tucked B
down the middle in the same
way we finish the star knot (page
                  22), making a double crown
knot. If you have a hot knife or
                  even a heated hacksaw blade,
trim the ends close to the back
