Load resistors are devices that dissipate the output of power converters in full load
in electronic devices. They are commonly used in consumer devices and home
electronic projects. Load resistors are not differ than the normal resistors but it is
used at the output of the circuit. A special fact about load resistors include a heavy
load will draw more current while a light load will draw a less current, in the case
of load less circuit it will draw minimal current. In our dyno system, load resistors
are ‘retarders’ that induce the varying load through the test runs, controlled by the
user through a PC interface. When all 3 load levels are switched on, the retarding
effect multiples and then makes the roller more resistant against turn. As the car
uses more power to turn the roller, the graph automatically shows a drop in its
efficiency.
4. Direct Current power supply, 600 Watt, 5 V, 120 A
Going by the name of the product, a power supply gives out power in its given
specifications. It has 3 positive ports and 3 negative ports, and in our dyno system
is connected to a few components including the data logger to give it enough power
to record and analyze data. It also indirectly powers the RPM sensor too, as the
sensor is connected to the data logger and if the data logger has no power source,
the sensor cannot work too.
