Look at the picture on the side !
This animal is an endangered species.
Where the habitat of these animals ?
If we look at the living things that inhabit the environment in which we live, there are
so many kinds. Both animals and plants, each of which has a variety of shapes, colors,
behavior. That fact gives us an indication, how extraordinary is His creation. The more we
observe one type of animal, it turns out that no two individuals have the exact same
characteristics. This shows that in nature there is biodiversity.
Biodiversity is the diversity of organisms that shows the overall variation of genes,
species and ecosystems in an area.
A. Biodiversity Level
Biodiversity shows a wide variety of shapes, appearances, numbers, and others.
Biodiversity is differentiated :
1. Genetic diversity
2. Species diversity
3. Ecosystem diversity
1. Genetic Diversity
All organisms have a hereditary component which forms the basis of their characteristics,
each that we can observe. The components of this hereditary trait are called genes or germplasm.
The composition and number of genes of each organism is different. These differences will lead
to genetic diversity.
Every individual has many genes. If there is a parent marriage that has different characters,
it will produce more varied offspring. So that the higher the diversity of genes. In similar
individuals there are differences, called gene diversity. Examples : white rabbits and black
rabbits, red roses and white roses.
