“GOLIATH, his Story”
It falls to me to tell this tale although we at Northcote only
came on the scene as it were towards the end of
Goliath's colourful life.
In fact it was Kevin Flynn the then Head Horseman at
Young's Brewery in Wandsworth who approached us
because Goliath was in real trouble.
This remarkable horse had been at Young and Co's for a
number of years.
“Golly” as know by all, was not a Beer delivery horse but
a “Show Horse”. To be quite honest he was no great
“looker” except for his exceptional height. In fact before
he died Goliath was for many years the “Guinness
Certified tallest Living Horse in the whole World”.
At one particular Shire Horse Show when held at the
Peterborough Showground, John Young once told me
the brief tale of Goliath.
