In the stable yard at the Brewery, almost ready for our “private” tour of the
town.
These pictures from Young and Co were taken in about 1982.
All these stables are no more, gone now for ever. Accountants decided
horses were too expensive, although in fact, they are not.
Young's was the last Brewery In London to be using horses, but it was not
until Mr John Young died, that anyone dare make the decision to stop using
the horses.

In fact even today in the early 21 century, many local authorities up and
down the United Kingdom and indeed even in other parts of Europe, have
decided to use horses for jobs around the towns and cities because they are
“environmentally friendly” and also far cheaper to run than motor lorries.
