12. Keep a constant check for pedestrians and vehicles in the vicinity, as you are
loading – if the lift poses a threat to other persons,
STOP.
13. When lifting, do not overload the crane.
14. Spread the load as evenly as possible, across the
width and length of the body
15. When all the material has been loaded (or if the load
alarm sounds), stop and engage the auto-sheeter.
16. Lay the grab into the body ensuring that it is below the sides; exit the walkway;
retract the stabiliser legs. Place the leg pads back in the correct storage location.
17. Disengage the P.T.O.
18. Check for stones, bricks, etc. caught between the rear wheels – remove any items,
before travelling on the road.
19. Ensure the rear number plate, lights and marker boards are all clean, before leaving
site.
Machine loading
1. Manoeuvre the vehicle to the required position – check with a site agent, for the
exact position. Make sure the plant operator is aware of your presence.
1. Take care to ensure no pedestrians or other vehicles are behind you.
2. Check that the sheet is fully retracted.
3. Check that ground is solid and there are no potential hazards (e.g. manhole covers,
drains, potholes, etc.).
4. Apply the handbrake.
5. Check the onboard weighing system has been reset.
6. When out of the cab, full P.P.E. must be worn.
7. Ensure that the correct material / waste is being loaded (with muck away
collections, the waste being collected MUST be the same type as shown on the
paperwork. Any variance has to be communicated to both the customer and the
Operations Manager, who will advise).
8. Engage the P.T.O. and elevate the crane, clear of the body and any loading
machinery.
9. When the correct weight is reached, signal to the plant operator (by sounding horn)
to stop loading.
10. Lower the crane before you move the vehicle away from the loading area, before
checking the load.
11. Check for loose debris, that could fall off the vehicle – remove any loose material,
before sheeting.
12. Activate the auto-sheet mechanism; lower the crane and ensure the grab is
positioned below the sides of the lorry.
13. Check for stones, bricks, etc. caught between the rear wheels – remove any items,
before travelling on the road.

site.
