Eye Tests
Before driving any company vehicle or plant you will be asked
to complete a basic sight test this will require you to be able
to read (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) a car
number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres.
(This test will be conducted on a recurring 6 month basis)
You must also have a horizontal visual field of at least 160 degrees, the extension should be at
least 70 degrees left and right and 30 degrees up and down. No defects should be present within
a radius of the central 30 degrees.
You must tell TJ and the DVLA if you’ve got any problem with your eyesight that affects either eye.
If you fail the test you will be suspended from driving and you may be asked to attend a formal
eye test to ensure that you are fit to drive.
Eye Contact
Please ensure that whilst walking or driving around on any site you have made eye
contact with the vehicle and plant drivers before crossing their path from any direction.
Thumbs up
Having made eye contact with the machine operator please then get a Thumbs Up to ensure that
you have acknowledgement and are given the safe space to cross after the operator has powered
down their machine.
