Driving or Operating Any Company Vehicles or Plant
1. Training - You must not operate any Company vehicle or plant unless you are fully trained
and certificated to do so by an external training provider and you are fully conversant and
competent with the vehicles controls. If you are unsure of any of the vehicle/plant operations,
you must speak to your immediate manager, who will ensure you are re-trained and retested
(if required) before you start working with the vehicle/plant
2. Guarding - Vehicles and Plant are fitted with safety guards and rails as per the manufacturer’s
specifications. These guards must not be removed or tampered with at any time. If you find
that any safety equipment is damaged or missing, you must report it immediately to your
manager and do not operate the vehicle or plant until it has been repaired or replaced.
3. First Aid Boxes - First Aid boxes are provided at the Company’s head office, Transfer
Stations and Recycling Sites. When you have used any item from a first aid kit, this must be
treated as an accident and recorded in the accident book. You must then notify your manager
who will arrange to replenish any items used.
4. Accidents - All accidents must be reported to your manager and an entry must be made into
the Company accident book. It is a legal requirement that all accidents and or near misses
must be reported and documented in full. Photographic evidence must also be collected of
accidents and incidents involving company property where possible.
5. Cameras - Photographs taken on digital cameras or telephones are also welcomed and can
be downloaded or e-mailed to your manager to help further with the investigation.
