36 Company Transport
The company will provide vehicles for use by those employees designated as requiring
company vehicles in order to carry out their respective tasks. The vehicles provided will be
suitable for the tasks that the individual employees undertake.
• The vehicles will be suitable licensed and insured in accordance with the legal
requirements for road traffic.
• The vehicles will be maintained at the required interval in accordance with the
manufacturer’s recommendations and by a competent mechanic / garage.
• The employees provided with company vehicles are responsible for carrying out the
daily / weekly checks in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Instruction to be followed by users of Company Transport:
✓ Employees being transported in Company Vehicles will conduct themselves in an
orderly manner and conform to the current Highway Code rules and regulations.
✓ No smoking rules apply to all Company Vehicles, due to the possibility of flammable
products being carried.
✓ Only authorised drivers may use company vehicles.
✓ Drivers are to comply with all Highway Code Rules and Regulations.
✓ Any driver found or suspected of being under the influence of drink or drugs will be
immediately dismissed from duty.
The Managing Director must be informed of any changes to driver’s qualification /
abilities.
✓ Drivers are to ensure First Aid Kits and Fire Extinguishers are maintained, reporting
any deficiencies to the supervisor.
✓ Drivers must insist that staff remain on seats provided during transit.
✓ When carrying materials / equipment, ensure all items are secure and unable to move
especially during emergency stops.
✓ Clean up spillages quickly and in the manner as directed by manufacturer’s
instructions.
✓ Only carry items on roof if correct roof rack is provided, and then ensure load is secured
correctly.
✓ Employees should not put themselves at risk to repair or extinguish fires of company
vehicles.
✓ The company will not accept insurance liability for any injuries sustained whilst assisting
other motorists / members of the public.
