20 Harrison Industrial Safe Site Rules
20.1 Visitors
1. Visitors must reverse park in the car park provided and must report to reception and sign in. The
route of access on site will then be agreed.
2. Whilst visiting this site you must wear safety boots, safety glasses and hearing protection. If you
do not have these items, please ask.
3. Site rules and an Induction will be provided to all contractors. A signature and details of recipient
must be obtained upon receipt of site rules. A log must be used to establish who has received
this information. A brief outline of general H&S guidelines and contractor specific information
will be provided. A refresher will be provided on any major changes to site and will be subject to
ongoing review.
4. Harrison Industrial Health and Safety Policy and Risk Assessment Documents are available on
request from the main office.
5. Traffic management on site is controlled by the site manager or Banksman, when driving on site
he/she must be obeyed at all times.
6. All signs on site must be obeyed at all times.
When walking on site pathways these are clearly defined to direct pedestrians around the site
and must be used at all times. The crossing point has been located to ensure that the machine
operators can see clearly in all directions. Please make sure that you have the driver’s attention
before crossing.
7. Inspections are regularly carried out to ensure that the site conditions are fit for purpose.
However, some parts of the site have uneven surfaces, please exercise care when walking
around the site.
8. We have some mobile & static plant operating on site, as well as some vehicles moving around
on site. Do not approach any plant, vehicle or machinery unless authorised or having attracted
the attention of the operator and made eye conact.
9. Harrison Industrial operates a permit to work system on site for all machinery and equipment.
Please contact the main office for more information.
10. Before working on any machinery always make sure that safe stop procedures and machinery
lock out are in place.
11. In the event of First Aid being required, please contact a Harrison Industrial representative. The
first aid point is located in the main office.
12. We operate an accident/incident reporting procedure. Please inform us of any accident/incident,
however small.
13. In the event of a fire, the alarm will sound, please assemble at the fire assembly point at the
site’s main gate.
14. In the unlikely event of an emergency necessitating the evacuation of the site, you will be
escorted to the assembly point by the Harrison Industrial representative.
15. We operate a No Smoking policy including e-cigarettes.
16. Due to the nature of our industry, please wash your hands before eating, drinking or
smoking.
17. Harrison Industrial operate a strict disciplinary procedure for safety breaches. All contractors will
receive one verbal warning, followed by one written warning to their relevant employer stating
the breach of procedure. If the contractor continues with the behaviour, they will be asked not
to return to the site.
