The shortened course decision.
As the race began at 1000 hrs. the last boat home had to be in by 1300 hrs. With the fleet
leaders approaching Mark G at close to 1140 hrs and the light wind conditions were
expected to persist.the race committee determined while finishing positions may have
changed for some it wouldn’t be fair for other boats whose fleet finishing positions wouldn’t
change and would possibly not finish in time if the course was extended to the next turning
mark, Mark E.
Brilliant thinking, so thought the race committee, and sure enough at 11:45 in came the
wind with enough strength to blow everyone home in time. Didn’t matter, the fleet were all
happy with the decision. They got a race in with a decent result.
Boat racing and crew sign on’s.
100% response by the fleet to this requirement was noted by the RYCV race committee.
This level of compliance to the Australian Sailing and Vic Govt. Marine Regulatory
conditions is noted by by RMYS and RYCV.

Race four results HERE.
Even with a shortened course the finishing numbers for race four were tight. On the race
committee boat it was all go to get those tight finishing times listed and then processed for
posting not long after the race was completed.
The Series aggregate points status is particularly tight. With 5 races still to run it’s no use
applying a one race drop to the current score as we know anything can happen between now
and then.
All up Race four allowed the classic fleet another opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of
Port Phillip on a typical winter day. We got a race in with a good result.
Our fleet numbers are holding up which is brilliant.
