your new business to life as a functioning entity. After you've com­
pleted the checklist, you'll look like a real company to the outside
world and feel like you have the structure to begin your business
success.

S etting Up Your H ome Office
Unless you have the money to rent some office space, your home
will have to do the trick. You may be setting up your "office" in your
bedroom or a corner of your family room, den, or kitchen. Wher­

ever it is, it is an office. You're a CEO now, after all! It is a place of

business and must be treated as such.
It may feel silly at first, but keep in mind that no one needs to

know that your company is extremely small and that you are work­
ing from home. If you follow the instructions in this chapter, you
will have what I call a "perfectly professional fac;ade." With Internet,
voice mail, and cell phones, you can magically appear to be a "real"
business with relatively little effort.
