Marketing Your
Product
Jot down the answers to these questions in your notebook to
develop a marketing strategy:
• How will your product be known within its industry?
• Is it an improvement to something similar? If so, are your
differences enough to make a real statement?
• Whose needs are you serving?
• Are their needs being met in a better way? A faster way? A
more efficient way? What exactly makes your product stand
out?
• Who will your niche market be? Boil it down to a sentence or
two. (It helps to imagine a single imaginary person who will
love your product. Then write down all his or her attributes
age, sex, income level, spending habits, needs and wants , etc.)
• How will you create the need for the product, if the product
is something new and unique? (Think Red Bull: They created
the need for highly caffeinated drinks for the younger croWd.
Before Red Bull, we weren't drinking energy drinks besides
coffee.)
