Step 7. Learn Marketing 1 01 1 37

To make photos look "finished" have them taken by a profes
sional. As with other professionals, see if your friends or family
know someone trained in photography. If not, seek out local pho
tography clubs or community college courses and post a request on
an online forum or office location to see if anyone is interested. You
may find talented people who do not necessarily run a photography
business. If none of those options work, search online or in your
local phonebook.

                         Work with the Photographer

You will be using these images frequently and for different mar
keting mediums, so they need to look sharp and interesting. Have
your photographer take as many pictures as possible during a shoot
and use a variety of scenarios, poses, or groupings of products so
that you have lots of options to show different outlets and people
will not be seeing the exact same image in several different places.
Give this some thought before you schedule a shoot, so you can be
prepared. Bring a list of the shots you want to take and any neces
sary props, models, or backgrounds.

Express Your Brand Through Your Marketing Materials

Just as you did while designing your packaging with your
graphic deSigner, give her descriptive words to help her understand
how you want the marketing materials to look. She will then use
fonts and deSigns that evoke those feelings or words. You can even
search online for fonts you think might be appropriate and list the
names for her.

Fonts are very important to marketing materials because they
are able to evoke vastly different feelings. A word written in script
has a more formal and feminine feeling, so if your product is fun
and masculine, script is not a good choice. For example, look how
different the same word "feels" when seen in completely different
font styles:
