group practice is four (4) and the maximum of PAs in a solo practice is
two (2). This means physician could have up to eight mid-level

time.

Kentucky
The physician can supervise up to four physician assistants but may not
supervise more than four at any one time. There is no limit to the
number of advanced practice nurses that the physician may enter into
collaborative agreements with—it is up to the physician’s judgment.

Mississippi
Physicians may not supervise more than two physician assistants and
may not supervise any physician assistants if the physician supervises
two nurse practitioners.
8
Tennessee
Similar to the AMA, the number of supervisees must be “consistent with
good medical practice.” Physicians may not supervise more than two
orthopedic physician assistants (OPAs) at a time. As of this publication
(2018), the Board of Medical Examiners is considering a limit of four.
