and the Board has approved a specific written request describing the
services to be provided by the physician assistant in the separate
location, the distance between the primary office and separate location,
and the means and availability of continuous direct communication with
the supervising physician.

Mississippi
Each APRN must participate in a formal quality assurance/quality
improvement (QA/QI) program to be maintained on site. The QA/QI
program must be sufficient to provide a valid evaluation of the practice
and be a valid basis for change, if any. The QA/QI plan should be
specific to the APRN’s areas of practice. The Advanced Practice
Committee will maintain review of these components.
With few exceptions, new graduate PAs and all PAs newly practicing,
require the on-site presence of a supervising physician for one hundred
twenty (120) days. If the PA performs duties at a site away from the
supervising physician, the physician must receive a daily status report
on any complications or unusual problems. The supervising physician
must be present ten percent (10%) of the PA’s scheduled work hours if:
1. The PA has less than two years (4,000 hours) in a registration
agreement.
2. The PA has entered into a new registration agreement and the
new supervising physician has a dissimilar primary specialty than
the previous supervising physician.
If the PA has at least two (2) years (4,000 hours) in a registration
agreement, the supervising physician must visit the remote site no less
