Preface and introduction, with an abridged version for the reader in a hurry
Award ceremony UICL race Amsterdam 1987, Sloughi bitches. Es-Sa'ida Schuru-esch-Schams,
left, and Une de Nitouche du Montouchet de la Horde d'Or, daughter of Laba'an II Al Khalij and

Here you can see quite clearly that the originally North African Sloughi type of Es-Sa'ida
differs greatly from the "Sloughi" type of Une de Nitouche, which originates mainly from
the Middle East. The build of Une de Nitouche is large-framed, rather elongated, the ears
of Une de Nitouche are rather far back and are carried hanging on the head, the head
appears softer in its lines and is larger, the coat colour and markings are unusual for a
        black mantle Sloughi.
Es-Sa'ida is undoubtedly a Sloughi of North African origin, the format is almost square,
the ears are folded back, the coat colours are correct.
In this article we want to analyse various aspects of how a mixture of Middle Eastern
Saluki and North African Sloughi came about. And why this mixture is so persistent in the
lines of Sloughis, even though they are obviously not North African Sloughis.
