Since the standards are the basis for breeding according to the FCI, every breeder must be
aware of what the choice of such a breeding partner means, namely to adopt a Saluki into
one's own breeding programme to a considerable extent and thus not to breed according to
        the current standard!

In a commercial transaction, this would mean that the transfer of the subject of interest
does not correspond to the promised characteristics, in this case a Sloughi, unless this fact
is pointed out and breeding with this dog is therefore ruled out. This process would
therefore not be legally finalised and the Sloughi of dubious origin could be returned to the
breeder. It could not be authorised for further breeding.

But we also heard the arguments from the other side. Hans Peter Oechslin tells us very
openly about the thoughts of Xavier Przezdziecki and the arguments of both. The arguments
correspond to the views of the time, which stem from the colonial past of the French and the
English. One must respect these arguments and be grateful for the knowledge of the
characteristics of these sighthounds that their arguments testify to. They are justified when
considered in general and in principle. So when it comes to bringing about an improvement

in breeding with a specific aim and possibly establishing a new breed.

Bringing about an improvement to prevent inbreeding and its consequences might be worth
considering. This would make sense at intervals of about four generations if we orientate
ourselves on the nomads. Line breeding, however, makes this consideration appear
unacceptable and should be rejected from their point of view. However, a new FCI breed
could be established according to a new standard and genetic proof.

On the other hand, several breeders completely ignore the requirements of the current FCI
                              o
Sloughi Standard N 188 of 8 January 1998 (French). If the breeders refer to the standard and
even go to shows and are proud of their honours at these shows and other competitions, it
would be self-evident that their dogs are not only called Sloughis on paper, but that they are
actually Sloughis on the basis of their origin and their genetic basis.

But what would be the consequence at this point? The Sloughis of dubious origin would have
to give back the titles they received on the basis of the current standard because they do not
fulfill the assured characteristics according to the standard. Breeding with these dogs would
        have to be ruled out.

This guaranteed characteristic of origin does not currently apply to the offspring of Jenna
and Laba'an II Al Khalij, as they have generally been line bred on this basis!
