SELFIE’S
SELFIE’S
ADVENTRUES
AD VENTR UES

C ONTINUED!
with Martin Reid
Although it has only been a couple of months for example, if she is nervous about something,
since our last piece written about Selfie’s first feed her some treats at a distance, then edge in
few weeks with me and our German adventures closer and closer until she is no longer bothered
it feels like a lifetime ago! I guess one advantage – then that situation is pretty much fine after
of all these lockdowns is we have so much time that. I have found with the collies sometimes this
to bond, lots of time for training and lovely (even can make them more curious and suspicious of
if extremely wet and dirty) forest walks! that situation. Fascinating really, I would love to
be inside a dog’s brain for a day.
Selfie really feels like she has been here
forever, I could not imagine not having her, Here are some of the tricks we have been
which is crazy considering if you would have learning, some which will lead on to her training
asked me not so long along about having a in agility, others just for fun!
Sheltie, I probably would have laughed! But I
do believe everything happens for a reason and
she certainly fell into my life at a perfect time.
Looking back at the timings of travelling with the
restrictions and the import/export changes of
recent, the way everything fell was unbelievably
easy, just a few weeks either side could have
changed everything.
Selfie is certainly a bit different to my other dogs
(border collies), but not in a bad way. Can any
dog be different in a bad way? She is much
more logical than the collies, which is interesting
as everyone who I have spoken too always say
border collies are much smarter, but maybe this
is sometimes the problem, they are too smart
and over analyse the situation? She is much
more trainable by typical book training methods,
