Kirsteen and alan Farrar

The Darkpeak Kennel was founded
in the late 1980’s by myself Kirsteen
Farrar along with my husband Alan:
the name ‘Darkpeak’ comes from
the area in the Peak District where
we used to live and walk our first
Newfoundland ‘Bilbo’ (Polar Bear of
Darkpeak).

I spent my childhood engrossed
in ponies and horses, my parents
owned a German Shepherd and a
Deerhound and my Grandparents
showed Bull Mastiffs. Whilst Alans
experience was limited to terriers as
pets, a giant breed was an obvious
choice. Our first Newfoundland was
purchased as a pet but we quickly
became ‘hooked’ on the breed,
developing a keen interest initially in
working activities.

Bilbo was joined by ‘Layla’ a White
& Black bitch and then by ‘Rani’
(Bouderee Julenisser of Darkpeak)
who was to become our foundation Ch Cape Lewisporte Nirvana at Darkpeak JW
bitch. Hips 3/3, Elbows 0, Cystinuria Carrier,
