The Newfoundland is certainly a versatile
breed. Club members and their dogs as well as
participating in the more formal activities such as
Showing, Working and valuable charity work, can
be found engaging in Pets As Therapy duties,
educating school children and youth groups on
the importance of water safety and the dangers
of alcohol and swimming or purely enjoying a
lazy weekend enjoying the tranquillity of the
countryside whilst paddle boarding!
Club members such as Di Sellers have become
avid collectors of the extensive range of jewellery,
works of art, antiques and other collectibles
inspired by the Breed, and Di regularly shares
her extensive knowledge of these works with the
members via Newfscene as well as contributing
articles to Breed Clubs overseas.
A few of our members have dabbled with
‘stardom’ with their dogs featuring in pantomimes
starring as the well-known character
‘Nana’, or even in the ‘Keith Lemon’
spoof of Star Wars where Helen
Gray and her brown dog ‘Buzz’
spent 2 days filming for his role as
‘Chewbacca’ alongside many TV
stars, Buzz is still waiting for his
Equity Card!
