ST. LANDRY PARISH

Tony Chachere is a household name in Louisiana for good reason. The internationally shipped seasonings and family of food products
that bear the name are an easy way to get authentic-tasting Louisiana food at home. Chachere himself was a native of Opelousas, and
he developed his flavors right along the bayou. The food giant’s legacy is kept alive in his city with the Tony Chachere General Store. You
can purchase Louisiana-inspired cutlery, tableware, and novelties including Cajun French children’s books and dictionaries. You can
also find all of the Tony Chachere family of seasonings and jambalaya as well as Cajun and Creole cookbooks.

St. Landry Parish, the cradle of zydeco music, also two-steps to the crunch of fried chicken. DezMeaux’s in Opelousas stuffs fried chicken
wings with boudin, a family recipe nicknamed that “razzle dazzle” by a local TV food influencer. Lines are long – around the clock – at
two locations of Mama’s Fried Chicken, which has been serving a 2-piece dark for $2.69 for more than 35 years. Soileau’s Dinner Club
has dished out fried chicken and a stuffed potato, along with its signature Catfish Opelousas, for more than 80 years. Wash it down
with a Pina Colada from a drive-thru daquiri shop. Who’s ready to get their fried chicken crunch on in St. Landry Parish?
