SABINE PARISH

COOKOUT OR DINE OUT IN TOLEDO BEND LAKE COUNTRY
With a gentle breeze off the water and cicadas crooning in time to your campfire crackling as you roast marshmallows for gooey
s’mores and sear your catch to smoky perfection in the last glimmers of a spectacular sunset over the water, your Toledo Bend Lake
Country adventures are off to a delicious beginning! With two Louisiana State Parks and numerous other options for experiencing
the great outdoors, from RV parks to primitive through glamping campsites, there are plenty of spots for you to pitch your tent or
park yourself along the 186,000 acres of bountiful waterways with beautiful views.

Toledo Bend also has plenty of options for indoor feasting. Martone’s is known for martinis and authentic, Italian cuisine, inspired by
generations of recipes. Several spots serve up fresh seafood, such as Bayou Crawfish or Fisherman’s Galley. International fare and quick-
serve spots are sprinkled throughout the region, and the Tamale Trail and Gas Station Eats will keep you deliciously satisfied along even
rural roadways. If you want your lodging to include dining options, Wildwood Resort has a complete café as well as cabins with kitchens,
and Cypress Bend Resort has casual, fine dining in style.

        FIND NEW AMONG CENTURIES OLD
This area was once part of No Man’s Land, a lawless region with no king or country, inviting outlaws, pirates, and brave pioneers. These
hardy settlers tested the boundaries, and have an independent streak, even today! The wilds of Toledo Bend Lake Country have been
largely tamed, but you can still stake your claim to a wily lunker (Largemouth Bass weighing 10+ pounds) and a good time! Find a wild
ride at the newest attraction, Toledo Bend Family Adventure Park at Wildwood Resort, a waterpark paradise! Cypress Bend Resort is
also underway with renovations to its Audubon Golf Trail Course (completion late 2023). Fort Jesup State Historic Site will also give
you the backstory on how the area was tamed and reenactors demonstrate centuries-old cooking and homesteading techniques during
special events. Our recipes are also time-tested with heavily guarded recipes for tamales and even signature sauces handed down for
generations. Check out Bub T’s Tamale House; family-owned and operated, featuring third-generation tamale aficionados, with their
own unique, award-winning twist on the Zwolle Tamale, along with other local favorites!
