Objective: To eliminate failures in brake gear system of Alco locos.

Benefits: Increase loco reliability and is a safety enhancement measure. Rising of Centre
Pivot Guard in WDG3 Locos to ensure contact of Centre Pivot Block with pin to some extent
even Centre Pivot Block is dropped due to holding bolts sheared (6 Locos balance to be
completed).

 DEMU

a) Fire Safety Measures – Provision of Modular type fire Extingushers in DEMU
Engine Compartments:

A total of 23 DPCs have been provided with modular type roof mounted fire
extinguishers to prevent any fire incidents on DEMUs. Each DPC is fitted with six
no‟s of roof mounted fire extinguishers which get automatically operated
whenever the engine room temperature exceeds 68°C.

b) Provision of Safety Guard for Fuel Glow Rod Gauges of DEMUs:

Shed has designed and provided Safety Guards for Fuel Oil Glow Rod Gauges
on all 33 DEMU DPCs to avoid fire incidents due to leakage of HSD oil from
gauge on ballast hit while on run. This also helped reduce the online
detention/punctuality loss of train apart from improving safety.
