It continues to be busy in the Harrogate office. Several bids, that had been ongoing for a while, have been
won. These projects include Hinkley ground investigations, Wakefield tower and underground cabling,
South Wales tower and Beauly-Keith cabling. Work has commenced on a Sheffield student housing project
and work continues on the Crossgreen project as further phases have been added.
The office is proud to announce the arrival of baby number two of 2019. After the arrival of
th
Mark's daughter Matilda in January, Joleen's baby, Richard Elliot, arrived on the 18 April at
8.56am.
In May the team completed the LANTRA 4 x 4 Professional User
Certificate. The morning session covered how to get out of 'sticky'
situations and more importantly how to prevent yourself getting into
them in the first place!! After a good old Yorkshire slap up lunch our
knowledge and new skills were tested. There was even a team building exercise,
navigating the driver through a wood on a narrow track that required assistance to pass by,
which we excelled at … of course. Whilst the day was a lot of fun, ultimately, we all learnt a
lot more about our 4 x 4s and how to drive them.
Team CGL at the Carter Jonas Yorkshire Pedalthon
On 7th June Harrogate's Team CGL took part in the sixth Carter
Jonas Yorkshire Pedalthon, raising funds for Land Aid.
Not only did the team of ten have the challenge of the
Howardian Hills and the North Yorkshire Moors, but also the
threat of torrential rain travelling up the country at a pace. All
dressed out in the CGL designed cycle jerseys and caps, Team
CGL comprised of clients, including Adept, Towngate, KPP
Architects and Caddick, and from CGL, Richard P, Richard B, Marina and Fiona.
Starting and finishing at Castle Howard, the setting for Brideshead Revisited and
Victoria, the three routes of varying lengths (75, 50 and 30 miles) were all
scenic, had their challenges, like Blakey Bank, and amazing food stations,
supported by Yorkshire producers. Richard P made the most of the locally
famous Appleton's pork pies, whilst Marina couldn't get enough of the
Wensleydale cheese, sprinkled on her Yorkshire Provender soup and with her
fruit cake.
The Team all made it back safely, with one hour to spare for those on the 75-mile route, before the
heaven's opened. All then enjoyed a hog roast, a Yorkshire ale (or two for the non-drivers) and a couple
even took advantage of the event physio team for a massage.
It was a successful day, raising over £20k for LandAid, and was good to spend the day with clients away
from the office in a relaxed environment.
