      Geological Field Trip

On Saturday morning when some were still sleeping
and the pallor not perfect over the full English, a few
of us went to Broadway with Dave Giles to look at
the impact of Quaternary processes on slopes.

We were able to see classic undulating periglacial
slides, infilled gulls in the Oolitic Limestones and get
a first hand a tutorial in intelligent terrain
interpretation. As m'colleague commented, “this is
exactly why I went in to geology”. It was indeed
classic field laboratory learning and I know Dave
      thoroughly enjoyed taking us.
The brisk walk up and down hillsides, for best part of
three hours, certainly gave the tired systems a work out and the sounds of slumber from the rear seat on
the way home to Godalming was a tell tale sign that their early morning return from the nightclub, ‘Smack’
was catching up... person remains anonymous.
