Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Independent Medical Group, LLC (IMG) specializes in the testing, treatment, and
management of HIV, Hepatitis C, and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Co-founders Clifford W. Knights and Steve
Vixamar have built a partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to level the playing field
for all high-risk Americans, no matter their race, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. IMG offers an array of
services that includes healthcare and pharmacy services, case management, and mental health and substance
abuse management. The Case Manager/Medical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the
Director of Clinical Operations. The Case Manager/Medical Assistant will assist medical and/or
nursing staff in the examination and screening of patients who are at risk for HIV/HEP C/ STDs.
The Case Manager/Medical Assistant will provide direct disease and intervention awareness to
the public, as well as education, counseling, and referral services for patents. The position reports
to the Clinical Operations Director, who provides administrative supervision under the technical direction of a
physician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

▪ Performs Case Management activities as directed to help identify individuals that are at risk STD/HIV
infection
▪ Completes the IMG Case Management Form, 1628, and Hepatitis C Risk Assessment Form
▪ Conducts client registration in the EMR and complete Quest Lab requisitions
▪ Participates in community screening events by performing phlebotomy (specimen collection) to help identify individuals
at risk of STD/HIV. These events can occur before, during, or after regular working hours, including weekends or holidays
▪ Handles sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality
▪ Requires a professional and interpersonal skill to interact with clients and healthcare professional
▪ Travels to different site/location to conduct STD/HIV Screenings
▪ Performs finger sticks, draws blood, pregnancy tests, including Oraquick HIV rapid test
▪ Performs blood collection/Phlebotomy and Urine collection
▪ Responsible for proper blood collection and labeling for lab processing
▪ Assists with the intake of patients for HIV testing with the request for labs, schedules appointments,
office visits, and prepares client files
▪ Assists with pre-authorization to obtain medication for the patient.
▪ Conducts an assessment of risk factors that contributes to HIV/HEP C/ STDs
▪ Practices safety, environmental, and infection control methods
▪ Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate,
temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, pain scale), including LMP, assists with obtaining patient
histories, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations when applicable
▪ Reports any patient that needs immediate medical attention to the Site Manager
▪ Works and completes tasks in an electronic medical record system in a timely manner
▪ Translates language for clients when necessary
▪ Performs standing orders as approved by the department and in accordance with policy and procedures
