HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES

SUMMARY OF CONTROL MEASURES:-

• A competent person shall develop COSHH

Assessments from the Safety Data Sheets;
• Ask to see the Chemical Agent Risk

Assessment;

• Implement the “general principles of

prevention”

• Avoid the use of hazardous substances;

• Substitute for a safer products;

• Introduce engineering measures such as

LEV to reduce exposure;

• Introduce collective measures to minimise

exposure;
• As a minimum, use suitable and sufficient

P.P.E. Note, if RPE is used, face-fit testing
will be required;

• If safe to do so, use in well ventilated areas;

• Where dust is generated, either use dust

extraction or wetting down systems;

• Implement the control measures as

detailed on the Chemical Agent Risk

Assessments;
