ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS

SUMMARY OF CONTROL MEASURES:-

● Only use suitably competent and pre-
qualified electrical contractors;

● Must have suitably qualified supervisor;

● A Permit-to-Work on Electrical Systems is

required and must be complied with;

● No live working except in exceptional
conditions such as fault finding and
commissioning, but only under stricter

controls;

● All work must be suitably planned and task

coordinated with relevant parties;

● Contractor/employee must provide suitable
and sufficient, task specific Risk

Assessments and Method Statement for the
task;

● Electrical systems must be isolated and
locked off.

● Check and verify the correct electrical
systems are isolated before removing

guards or working on electrical systems;

● Provide and use suitable insulated matting

to BS 61111: 2009;

● Electrical panels must be kept secure unless
working on them;

● All tools shall be double insulated to BS
60900;

● Use calibrated an certified electrical testing
equipment;
