Generators
• Generators have the potential to cause serious injury or death if
they are not used correctly.
• Generators have the potential to cause serious electric shock so it
is important to ensure they are inspected before use. Never use a
defective generator. All generators must be earthed correctly
thereby ensuring that if there is a fault the user is protected.
• Generators are heavy pieces of equipment. Please ensure you
don’t injure yourself or a colleague whilst positioning a generator.
Use mechanical means or get help when moving around the site.

present.
•
Great care is needed to ensure personnel are not exposed to
harmful C02 emissions which results from burning any fossil fuel.
NEVER use a diesel or petrol generator indoors. Be mindful of
using generators close to air intake points, pits, bunds or
excavations. Check position of exhaust in relation to these.
• Generators that emit excessive smoke must not be used.
• Generators must be maintained and kept in good condition. Care is
needed when fueling or refueling generators. Use a fuel funnel.
Never use generators
• Care is needed when handling generators after use. Surface parts
and exhausts have the potential to be very hot and could cause a indoors
burn.
