• Like any other work at height equipment, you must be trained how

• Podiums should only be used where it’s not reasonable to use a
MEWP or mobile tower.
• Always read the manufacturers instructions before using a podium
platform.

• Every podium must display an inspection tag. This tag will outline
the owner, identification and date of inspection or next inspection.
• The safety gate and the associated safety latch or safety clip must
be closed by the user each time the platform is used see figure 3.
• Users of podiums are not permitted to work from the steps or
rungs.

• Care is needed when moving podiums. Look out for live services
and always ensure you get help with heavy or unwieldly podiums
so as to avoid manual handling injuries.
• Never use defective podium platforms.
• Repairs to podiums must only be carried out by a competent
person or by the manufacturer.

• Store podiums safely when not in use.
• Users of podiums need to ensure pinch points are identified and
highlighted on podiums.
