Gas welding (1 of 2)




                •     Always use correct type of goggles/shield when
                      welding or cutting.
                •     Use suitable aprons and gloves.

                •     Do not point the flame towards the regulators or

                      another person.
                •     When finished welding shut off the main valves,
                      bleed the lines and loosen the regulator adjusting

                      screws.
        9. Hot Works  •  everything off.
                •
                      Wind up the hoses when finished, shutting


                      Do not turn acetylene valve more than 1½ turns.

                •
                      Never use oil near oxygen equipment.
                •

                •     Threads used for acetylene are LEFT-HANDED.
                      Threads used for oxygen are RIGHT-HANDED.
                •     Use only the approved striker to light the torch. Do
                      not use matches or lighters for this task.

                •     Ensure cylinder keys are left with the cylinders.

                •     Always have a fire watch with you on standby with
                      the appropriate fire extinguisher.
                •     Where possible, gas bottles should be removed

                      from the building when not in use.
