Non-destructive testing (NDT)

• NDT companies are licensed from the
EPA. Minimum crew is Radiographer and
Attendant. Specific training is required.

• Radioactive source to be secured at all
times during transport, use and de-mob.

• Crew wear site standard PPE plus Thin
Layer Dosimeter (TLD) and EPD (Pen
Dosimeter)

• Generally, work is done out of hours.

Perimeter must be monitored with Geiger
tube during exposure.

• Display warning signage, flashing beacons
and floor signs to be used.
• Crew must have a suitable emergency

plan and equipment e.g. bolt cutters, spare
Geiger tube, bags of lead shot, lead
castles.
