2-metre rule for carrying materials

• All material 2m or greater must be
carried by more than one person.
7.Lifting and Transporting Operations
• These people must be located at

either end of the material, to
prevent it hitting a person,
damaging equipment or impacting

services.

• When transporting bulky material
on pallet trucks or trolleys, ensure

you have sufficient people to
manage the load – both weight and

size.

• This is particularly important going
through doorways or around

corners, where vision is restricted.
• Never carry such materials on

stairs.
