Rigging techniques

                • All rigging must be carried out by a trained
                      Rigger/Slinger.
        7.Lifting and Transporting Operations
                • Under no circumstances are persons permitted
to rig equipment when not trained to do so.
                • Use the correct lifting equipment for the job.

                • All slings and lifting equipment must be visually
checked before each use to ensure no damage
present. Weekly recorded inspections must be
                      kept on site file.

                • All lifting equipment must be certified every 6
months and certificates kept on site file for
                      inspection.

                • If you see incorrect or bad rigging techniques
report it to a supervisor straight away.
                • Never join slings together with knots.

                • Do not run slings over sharp edges without
                      suitable padding.
                • Rigging points should be planned in advance
and use the most appropriate accessories for
the task. You may need temporary works sign
off / approval from the permanent works
                      designer.
                • Plan the lift using the appropriate size and
tonnage of sling and accessories for the weight
                      of the load.
