Telescopic forklifts
• You must be competent and hold a valid CSCS card to operate a Teleporter
on this project.
• Always inspect and check your plant item before use. This inspection must be

recorded on a checklist and retained in the cab.
• It is the drivers responsibility to ensure all auxiliary safety devices (Flashing
beacons, reversing alarms) are functioning correctly before use. (Any defects
noted through pre-use inspection must be brought to the attention of your
supervisor and rectified.)
• All lifts must be planned so as to ensure they are carried out in a safe manner.
It is the drivers responsibility to ensure loads are secured or strapped before
lifting or moving materials around site.
• Do not sling directly from the forks. Use the correct lift eye attachment.
• Lifting accessories or lifting attachments must be correctly secured to the forks
and be certified individually.
• Always ensure ground conditions are good before the deployment of out-
riggers and or when extending the telescopic boom. Beware of gullies,
chambers or non load-bearing covers.
• Load charts must always be consulted and utilized before lifting any load so as
to ensure the safe working load is never exceeded. This should be in the cab.
• Always stop a lift and retract the boom when the safe load indicator alarm
sounds. This is a critical safety warning device telling you that you are
exceeding the safe working load.
• There are significant blind spots on telescopic forks/ teleporters. You must use
a banks person/ spotter when maneuvering the machine into areas with
restricted vision or areas with little space.
• Stick to the project speed limit, wear your seat belt and never use a mobile
phone when operating the machine.
• Full PPE must be worn when leaving the machine and always switch the
machine off and apply handbrake before leaving it.
