As parents, your efforts make all the difference! We are partners in your
                               child’s education

Here are the ways you can support this “Practice” also:
                               Routines
                               1) Please ensure your child arrives on time each day so that they are available,
eager to learn, rested and attentive as we begin the rst class at 8 A.M. This is
when your child has the most energy and is focused on the lesson and willing to participate
                               2) Please continue to read each day with or to your child at least 5-10
minutes! It is the strongest predictor of a child’s love of reading and builds their
understanding of vocabulary, uency and an understanding that “print has meaning!”
Sustained, multiple, repeated, shared activities (10000 hours of practice!)
                               3)     Types of reading can be non- ction- environmental print such as;

                               a) Take out menus as you select your food options. Ask your child what does the
picture look like and how does the word match the food item?
                               b) Online shopping- What is the rst sound of the food item Chicken-/ch/ or /a/ =
apple when you look at Sultan Centre online shopping pictures.
                               c) “Read” a picture book, look at the pictures and draw their attention to the
details on the page to build their vocabulary. Ask them what they see on the page
and add details such as “Yes, it is a car! It is a red, pick up truck”.

These last 12 weeks before May are critical to help our children consolidate their
learning and practice areas which still need review. It is not a race!
Early Years is a journey of discovery and new skill development. Each child
progresses depending on the attention, practice and encouragement he/she
receives. Together, let’s put our energies in supporting these areas so “Practice
                               becomes Habit of Mind”.
                               Thank you for your help!

                                                                                                                Warm regards,

campaign, Shaping Us, was launched in January to raise awareness of the
unique importance of early childhood and how it shapes the rest of our lives.
