               The export strategy

Yoon: This is actually our bottom price for export, Mr. Johnson. The figure is based on the stan-
dard policy that we have in the company. We can’t go lower than this figure. We hope you
                  understand.
Johnson: I regret that things have turned out this way. We would really like to deal with Universal
if only the price conditions were better, Mr. Yoon. Can’t we compromise on this matter?
Yoon: As you know, our export strategy is to sell the highest quality products with reasonable
prices in order to meet competition. This simply means that we stick to the highest quality and
good prices. Again, I hope you understand.
Johnson: I understand your position very well. That is a reasonable export strategy that you have
there. Thank you very much. I hope that you will review and reconsider our proposal. We really
want to do business with you.

               1. Is your business into export? If not, why so? If yes, has it been a good ven-
                  ture?

                  Sample answer:
We are not into export yet, but we are planning to go into that as soon as we are financially
                  stronger.

               2. What are the challenges of exporting?

                  Sample answer:
First, one has to be financially stable. One should also have lots of connections and some de-
pendable suppliers. An effective marketing strategy and a very high product quality will help.

               3. How does your company fare among its exporting competitors?

                  Sample answer:
We are not into exporting yet because we need to be able to compete well with our rivals. In
ever we get into export, we’ll make sure that our prices, service, and products will be competi-
                  tive.
