The success of Korean industries

Yoon: Do you know that Korean industries gradually increased due to the effort of labor unions?
John: Yes, I read about it in the latest Time magazine. Korea is indeed hitting it big time in business.
You should be very happy.
Yoon: At the present time, the major functions operate automatically in the plant. We are simply
doing our best, and we are thankful that it’s yielding good returns.
John: Well, it’s quite clear that the success of Korean industries is due primarily to skilled workers,
highly developed technology, and the government’s economic policy that has been running for
40 years. At the same time, there have been a lot of diversifications in the Korean industries. If
we will continue this good performance, then the future will indeed be very bright for Korea.
Yoon: Yes, I can’t deny that. That’s one of the major benefits that have made us more competitive,
Mr. John. I hope that this will continue.

They are acknowledged as sharp and hardworking businessmen. Koreans are very serious
when it comes to business.

Sample answer:
I look up to the CEO’s of Universal Inc., Arko, and Platinum. They are the biggest names in the
Korean business industry. They have done a lot to improve our national performance.

3. How does your government help businessmen or foster a climate ideal for
business?

Sample answer:
Our government helps us by making sure that Korea is a safe and interesting place for business.
We also get reduced taxes for businesses that are aligned with government projects.
