I think businessmen know which companies are renowned in the field. We also rely on our ex-
perience and background. Businessmen talk about trade quite often and certain names come
up every now and then. We also do our own research and background check. All these can lead
us to a good business partner.

1. You are asking for an advice from a fellow businessman. You need a business
partner with the following qualifications. Ask him to help you find one.

b. has the ability to export
c. capable of supplying 1,000 spare part units of your item/product

Sample answer:
I hope that you can help us find a good business partner, Mr. So. Please give us some referrals
because our need is quite urgent. Our partner has to have at least 5 years in the silk business.
He also has to have the ability to export because this is part of our long term plan in this new
venture. To make sure that he is indeed ready for this plan, we also require our potential part-
ner to be capable of supplying 1,000 pieces of silk scarves. What do you think of our require-
ments? I hope they are not so hard to meet because we really need to find a business partner
soon. Please help us.

2. You finally found a businessman who can possibly work with you on a big
export deal. Before you start with the deal, you want to present the follow-
ing qualifications and ask him or her if he is capable of meeting these condi-
tions.

a. Ability to supply needed spare parts immediately and even in short no-
tice
b. Can deliver within 3 days maximum from Seoul to any part of Busan
c. Ready to give 8% discount to ordered merchandise

to be assured that you are capable of supplying high quality silk immediately or upon short
notice. Our clients usually order by bulk when they like the items and we have to be ready to
supply the orders. We have to delivery them promptly too, so we need to be assured if you can
deliver within 3 days max from Seoul to Busan. I hope that’s possible. We assure you that we
will place a big number of orders, and so, if it’s possible, can you give us at least an 8% discount
on our orders. We hope that this request will be accommodated especially because this is our
initial venture.
