1. You have decided to approve the requested discount by a client. Give the
points below as reasons for approving the discount. Pretend that you are
telling this to the client.

b. big order is exceptional, so a discount is granted
Sample answer:
Good day, Mr. Yee. I’m very happy to inform you that the board has decided on your discount
request. Yes, we are giving you your requested 15% off. I hope that this will be a big plus in
your business. The board thinks that you deserve a big discount because we have been busi-
ness partners for a long time now – for 10 years now, right? Besides, we are also delighted by
your exceptionally big order. We thank you for closing this deal with us. We hope that we can
continue doing business in the next ten years and even beyond.
2. As the supervisor of your company, you have received reports that some of
your agents granted baseless discounts. Talk to the agents and give the fol-
lowing reminders:
a. Following the standard range for discounts
b. Consulting higher authority for discount requests that go beyond the
range
Sample answer:
Good day to you all. Thank you for attending this meeting. Our discussion will be about the
granting of requested discounts, especially because some of you have made some baseless
discount approvals. Perhaps, you’ve been confused about our standards in giving discounts.
We have a table that clearly shows how discounts granted are consistent with the number
of orders placed. Please secure a copy of this table, so that you will be guided in giving the
right discounts. Again, we are not discouraging you from giving discounts. You just have to
be sure that you are giving the right discount percentage to your clients, or else our company
will suffer. In addition to that, you are supposed to consult higher authorities if clients ask for
a discount beyond the specified range. Please remember that this is a step that should not be
neglected when you transact with our clients.
