Acid-Base Indicators
Acid-Base indicator is a substance that has a certain color at a
certain pH.
Natural indicators
Many naturan dyes found in
fruits, vegetables, and flowers
act as naturally occuring
indicators by changing color
with changes in then pH of
solutions. One of them is extract
of purple cabbage. The extract
of purple cabbage contains
anthocyanin pigment. Figure 1.4
shows the color of purple
cabbage extract in solutions
within the pH range of 1 to 13.
