Strong Bases

Strong bases are any type of electrolyte that ionizes

completely when dissolved in water. examples of strong bases
                include NaOH, KOH, Mg(OH) .

                Weak Bases

A weak base is a weak electrolyte that partially ionizes

when dissolved in water. One example is ammonia acid (NH ).
                                                                                                       3
When dissolved in water, ammonia will form an equilibrium

reaction because not all molecules are ionized into ions

The strength of an acid or base can be expressed
by its equilibrium constant, called the acid ionization

constant (Ka) or base ionization constant (Kb)
