                      In pure water, the concentrations of H+ and OH- produced by
                the  autoionization  are  equal  because  the  ions  are  formed  in

                equal numbers. It’s been found that the concentrations have the

                    As with other equilibrium constants, the value of Kw varies with

                temperature (see Table 5). Unless stated otherwise we will deal
                with systems at 25 °C.










                     One of the important properties of water is its ability to act as
                an acid and base at the same time (amphoteric). The addition

                of acid to water will make water act as an alkaline and with the
                addition of base to water will make water act as acid. Why does

                this happen? How does it affect the solubility of compounds?
